Dram originally comes from the Ancient Greek currency drachmē, one of the oldest coins, which itself comes from the word “to grasp” (dragme in Anglo-French and Late Latin). It also describes the coins’ weight, was used as a unit of measurement in ancient Rome, and then more formally throughout medieval Europe. Its use for specifically whisky reportedly began in Scotland, with no official amount - perhaps more of a feeling. Or a bartender’s feeling about you. There are specific definitions now, but like, just know if you want a wee dram or a large dram.

The wilderness vigil (known by many names) is an ancient rite that can be found across cultures, probably for about as long as there have been people. Key themes include solitude, the search for a profound connection with the earth, nature and oneself, a discovery or regaining of self, seeking of guidance and clarity, connection to the “collective unconscious” or ancestral memories - ties to the past, with direction for the future.
Dartmoor is an uplands area of moorland in southern Devon, located in South West England, known for beautiful views, a haunting history, tors (hills topped with outcrops of bedrock, primarily granite in Dartmoor), a supposedly inescapable prison, and literary inspiration (notably Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles, among others).

The first records of the term canon come from before the 900s. It ultimately comes from the Greek kanṓn, meaning “measuring rod, rule.” Often canon can refer to a set of rules or a collection of works that dictate the rules.
Male foxes are known as dogs, tods or reynards, the last tying in with Reynard the Fox, an anthropomorphic red fox and trickster figure from medieval European folklore. Apparently Reynard is the real inspiration for Disney's animated Robin Hood, not actual Robin Hood, which is why he's portrayed as a disturbingly alluring cartoon fox!
